Whales Valley / Wadi Al-Hitan:
World Heritage Site the Valley of the Whales (Wadi el Hitan, Wadi
Zeuglodon) is situated in the west of the Fayom, 35 km north of Wadi
er Rayyan. Contains invaluable fossil remains of the earliest, and
now extinct, suborder of whales, Archaeoceti. These fossils
represent one of the major stories of evolution: the emergence of
the whale as an ocean-going mammal from a previous life as a
land-based animal. This is the most important site in the world for
the demonstration of this stage of evolution. It portrays vividly
the form and life of these whales during their transition. The
number, concentration and quality of such fossils here is unique, as
is their accessibility and setting in an attractive and protected
landscape. The fossils of Al-Hitan show the youngest archaeocetes,
in the last stages of losing their hind limbs. Other fossil material
in the site makes it possible to reconstruct the surrounding
environmental and ecological conditions of the time

Abou Moharek Dunes:
Take your time and enjoy the view. Called Naqab al-Adim, Old Pass,
the route leads to the caravan routes to Minya and Bhanasa. The
place offers a spectacular panorama view of the entire northern half
of the Bahariyah oasis. About 15 km straight ahead beyond the maze
of small hills and several lush valleys are two sand seas: the
smaller Ghard Qazzun and, beyond it, the larger Ghard bu Moharrik.
The locals call the area simply the sand sea.

Gara Cave (Djara):
The cave is impressive, on Christmas Day 1873, Gerhart Rohlfs
pointed out this cave to the western world and described it in his
book as "wonderful stalactite cave". The cave is impressive. It
begins as a fissure in the ground and is entered by climbing down
and then through a corridor. It has one large 50 meter high cavern
and two small one. The most impressive items are the stalactites
rising as high as 6 meters, some of which are 1.5 meters in
circumference. The sandy floor has been penetrated and is 6 meters
deep.

The White Desert:
White Desert (known as Sahara el Beyda, with the word sahara meaning
a desert). The White Desert of Egypt is located 45 km (30 miles)
north of Farafrah. The desert has a white, cream color and has
massive chalk rock formations that have been created as a result of
occasional sandstorms in the area.
